What You Can Save From Threads
ThreadsGrab works with what Threads shows publicly. Here's what each kind of link gives you.
Videos and GIFs
Videos save as MP4 files at the quality Threads served for that post. ThreadsGrab doesn't re-compress them, upscale them, or add a watermark. If the video already has text or a logo on screen, that stays — it's part of the original file.
GIFs on Threads are stored as short video clips, so they save as MP4 too, not as .gif files. For posts with several videos or a choice of qualities, the Threads Video Downloader lays out each option.
Photos and Multi-Photo Posts
Paste the post link and each photo appears as its own item. You save the ones you want. The file is the size Threads provides for that post — a small original stays small. For posts that are mostly photos, the Threads Image Downloader is built around that workflow.
Profile Pictures
Enter a public Threads profile link or type the account's username, with or without the @ symbol. ThreadsGrab retrieves the largest version of the profile picture that Threads makes available, rather than artificially enlarging a smaller image. The actual resolution varies by account. Use the Threads Profile Picture Downloader to preview and save the image.
Text-only Threads posts don't contain any downloadable media, so ThreadsGrab cannot generate a download link for them.
Which Threads Links Work
Copy links straight from Threads. The shapes you'll see:

What won't work: private accounts, deleted posts, text-only posts, preview cards for external articles, and links to feeds, search or hashtag pages. A link to a reply or quote post points to that reply, not the original — open the original post and copy its link if that's the video you want.
A quick test: open the link in a private or incognito window. If Threads asks you to log in or shows nothing, ThreadsGrab can't get it either.
If a Download Doesn't Work
- Nothing happens, or it keeps "processing."
- Copy the link again and paste the whole thing. Share sheets sometimes cut links short, and one missing character breaks it. Then reload the page and try again.
- "No media found," but the post has a picture.
- Open the post while logged out. If you can't see it, the account is private or the post is restricted.
- The post is text only.
- Text posts and link-preview cards have no file to save.
- You copied a reply, a feed or a search page.
- Open the exact post you want and copy its link directly.
- It worked before, not now.
- The post may have been deleted or edited, or the link may be old. Copy a fresh link from Threads and try again.
- A fresh link from a public post still fails.
- Threads changes its URL formats occasionally and we update the tool when it does. Send us the link (public posts only) along with what you saw.
Saving on iPhone, Android and Computer
iPhone and iPad. Use Safari. Depending on your iOS version you'll get a Save Video or Save to Photos prompt, or the file will appear in Files → Downloads. From Files you can move a video to Photos.
Android. Files usually go to your Downloads folder, and some browsers also add them to your gallery. Check both if you can't find the file.
Computer. Files go to your browser's default Downloads folder. A long video takes a moment to write to disk.
On a phone, copy the link in the Threads app, switch to your browser, then paste it. Long videos are large files — use Wi-Fi if you're on a limited data plan.
Privacy, and What ThreadsGrab Doesn't Do
ThreadsGrab is an independent tool made by Romit Kr Yadav. It isn't affiliated with Threads, Instagram or Meta. More on the About page.
- No login. ThreadsGrab doesn't ask you to sign in to Threads.
- Public content only. It doesn't work around privacy settings and cannot reach private accounts.
- Your links only. It works on the link you paste — it doesn't browse Threads on its own.
- Files aren't stored. The Privacy Policy states ThreadsGrab doesn't keep videos or pictures on its servers after delivery.
- What the site does collect. Basic technical data such as IP address and browser details, used for analytics. Ads may also be shown. The Privacy Policy has the details.
- Downloading isn't permission to reuse. Saving a copy for personal reference is different from reposting, editing or selling someone else's work. Ask the creator first. See the Disclaimer.

Threads doesn't offer a built-in way to download videos — a deliberate limit designed to keep viewers scrolling in-app. Screen recording re-encodes footage and lowers resolution. Third-party apps add branding or require installs from unverified sources. ThreadsGrab retrieves the video directly from the source at the resolution available — no re-encoding, no watermark, nothing to install.
Threads Image Downloader
Screenshotting, long-pressing, or right-click saving all compress or crop images from their actual dimensions. The Threads Image Downloader pulls each photo directly from the source at the resolution Threads makes available — not a re-saved copy. For posts with several images, it grabs all of them in a single pass — no repeating the process image by image.
Threads DP Downloader
Profile photos on Threads are displayed as compressed, low-resolution thumbnails — zoom in and the quality drops fast. The Threads DP Downloader pulls the profile photo directly from its source file rather than the on-screen thumbnail, giving you the largest version Threads makes available — useful for design work, verification, or archiving.
Threads Follower Counter
Threads batches follower count updates internally — refresh your profile and the number stays flat, then jumps without warning. The Threads Follower Counter gives you one place to check the most current count available without repeatedly refreshing. It's not a full analytics tool, but it removes the guesswork for anyone who checks their count often.

Three things cause this almost every time: the account is private, the post was deleted or edited after you copied the link, or the link points to a profile page instead of a specific post. For private accounts, ThreadsGrab has no way to authenticate — it only works with publicly accessible content. Use the Share icon on the exact post to copy the correct link.
ThreadsGrab has no way to authenticate into private accounts, and that's intentional. We only process publicly accessible URLs and never ask for a Threads username or password — any tool that does should be treated as a red flag.
Yes — ThreadsGrab runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install on iOS or Android. Copy the link from the Share menu inside the Threads app, then paste it in your phone's browser. On iPhone, Safari gives the most reliable save prompt. If the tool doesn't work in one browser, try another — Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all handle download requests slightly differently.
Saving publicly posted content for personal, offline viewing is generally fine. Reusing or redistributing someone else's content — reposting, editing, or selling it — is a separate matter that usually needs the creator's permission first.
