Check Your Threads Post Before You Paste the Link
Most failed attempts come from a post that doesn't contain what an image tool can read. Here is how common cases are handled.

How to Copy the Right Threads Post Link
The tool needs the address of the post that holds the photo — not the poster's profile, and not a reply underneath it. A post address looks like threads.com/@username/post/ followed by a short code. Older threads.net addresses follow the same pattern.
In the Threads app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. On some app versions it sits in the ⋯ menu instead. On the web, click into the post so it opens on its own page, then copy the address from the browser bar.
Two slips cause most failed pastes. The first is copying a reply or quote post when the photo is in the original post it responds to — open the original and copy from there. The second is a clipped link, which happens easily when copying on a phone. After pasting, scroll to the end of the link in the box and make sure the code after /post/ is complete.
Downloading One Threads Photo vs. a Full Carousel
A single-photo post gives you one preview and one button. A multi-photo post gives you several previews.
Threads allows up to 20 photos or videos in one post. When you paste a link to one, ThreadsGrab lists every photo as its own item, in the same sequence you'd swipe through in the app. Each item has its own Download File Now button.
Saving happens one image per click — there is no "save all" button and no ZIP file, so a 12-photo post means 12 downloads. The upside is control: if you only want photo 7, you save photo 7 and nothing else.
A few habits make long sets easier:
- Swipe through the post in Threads first and note where your photo sits. The previews here follow the same sequence.
- Save in order. Most gallery apps sort by the time a file was added, so the set stays together.
- Count the photos before you start. If the preview shows fewer than the post does, one of the slides is probably a video, and videos don't appear here.
Where Your Downloaded Threads Photos Are Saved

On any device, open ThreadsGrab in a regular browser such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge. The built-in browser that opens when you tap a link inside another app often blocks downloads.
Image Quality When You Download Threads Photos
ThreadsGrab saves the photo file that Threads serves for that post. It doesn't enlarge, sharpen, or re-compress the image — what you save is as good as what Threads holds, and no better.
- Size depends on Threads. Meta's developer documentation for the Threads API lists 1,440 px as the maximum image width, with wider images scaled down. Treat it as a reference point, not a promise — and be skeptical of any downloader advertising 4K Threads photos.
- Format follows the source. Most Threads photos arrive as JPG. ThreadsGrab doesn't convert files, so if Threads serves a different format, that's the one you get.
- It's cleaner than a screenshot. A screenshot is capped at your screen's resolution and picks up the status bar, buttons, and rounded corners. The saved file is just the image.
- Anything already inside the photo stays. Text, logos, or watermarks added by the poster are part of the picture. ThreadsGrab adds nothing of its own.
To see what you actually got, check the file's details. On iPhone, open the photo in Photos and tap the info button. On Windows, use Properties › Details. On a Mac, use Get Info. The pixel dimensions are listed there.
Do You Actually Need a Threads Image Downloader?
Sometimes not. Some versions of the Threads app and website let you save a photo directly — through a long-press in the app or a right-click on a computer. If that works for you and you only want one photo, use it.
A downloader earns its place when your version has no save option, when you'd rather work from a link someone sent you than from the app, or when you want specific photos out of a long set. A screenshot is the fallback of last resort.

Before You Reuse a Threads Photo
Being able to see a photo publicly on Threads doesn't mean you may reuse it. Keeping a copy for reference is one thing. Reposting it, putting it in an ad or on a product page, selling it, or passing it off as your own is another, and usually needs the creator's permission. A credit line is not a substitute for that permission.
